Tottenham face huge concern as contract rebel eyed as shock marquee signing for European giants

Tottenham striker Harry Kane is reportedly set to be the subject of a big-money move from AC Milan in January with contract talks with Spurs on hold.

The 23-year-old reiterated his importance to the club on Saturday with a late show to secure all three points against West Ham United as he took his Premier League goal tally up to 54 in 90 appearances.

However, according to The Express, Tottenham will have their resolve tested in January with Milan set to make a big offer to try and prise him away from White Hart Lane.

The Rossoneri are expected to see a takeover of the club completed by a Chinese consortium next month, after which coach Vincenzo Montella will undoubtedly hope to have significant transfer funds available to strengthen his squad.

As noted in the report, Kane is holding out for a new contract worth over £100,000-a-week, but chairman Daniel Levy has been unwilling to alter the club’s wage structure which in turn has put negotiations on hold until the end of the season.

The England international is also admired by Manchester United, according to The Express, but it might be the Serie A giants who act first and submit an offer in the New Year.

From Tottenham’s perspective, they will be desperate to shed their tag of being a selling club after seeing key stars such as Luka Modric and Gareth Bale leave the club in recent years for big moves to Spain.

However, it would be a major statement of intent from Milan if they were to secure the signing of Kane, with Montella making an impressive start to life in the San Siro hot-seat having led his side to third place in the Serie A table after 12 games after years of disappointment.
