Olivier Giroud came to Arsenal’s rescue at Old Trafford by powering a header past Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea in the dying minutes of their clash. Arsenal had been poor and, trailing 1-0 near stoppage time, didn’t deserve a share of the spoils. But nobody told super-sub Giroud. He made sure that their first shot on target was a goal.
It’s not the first time that Giroud has impressed with an appearance from the bench this season. The France international helped Arsenal win 4-1 against Sunderland at the end of October when he came on to score twice.
He actually combined with another substitute here when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain shrugged off the lacklustre defending of Marcus Rashford.
The Ox whipped in a high cross and once Phil Jones fell, it was a certain goal.
WOW! LATE DRAMA. Olivier Giroud scores.
