Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard is eyeing a sensational return to his boyhood club, according to the Mirror.
Per-the-source, Gerrard was in advanced talks with the League One club MK Dons however, the former LA Galaxy man decided to turn down the role.
The Mirror goes onto state that Gerrard is also eyeing a role in the England national team set-up.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is understood to be open to Gerrard’s return to the club and it is Mirror claims that the Reds are set to hold informal talks with Gerrard.
However, the Sun states that former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has thrown a potential spanner in the works as it’s claimed that he’s keen on taking Gerrard to China.
Pellegrini is currently the boss of Hebei China Fortune after leaving City at the end of last season.
Gerrard recently departed LA Galaxy after making the move to the MLS side back in 2015.
