Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has posted an update on social media for the first time this month as speculation continues to build over his future.
As noted by Mundo Deportivo, it’s been claimed that the Croatian international wants a move away from the Bernabeu this summer, with Inter tipped to be his destination of choice.
Given his role in Real Madrid’s recent success, which has included three consecutive Champions League triumphs, losing the 32-year-old will be a major blow for the Spanish giants.
Further, having already lost Cristiano Ronaldo this summer to Juventus, it could make life very difficult for new coach Julen Lopetegui as he looks to keep the run of success going that was established under Zinedine Zidane.
In an additional scare for Real Madrid fans, Corriere dello Sport note how Modric no longer features in their social media banners, which is a worrying indication that perhaps he may not be around for much longer and so won’t be used in any promotional work.
Nevertheless, with all the speculation swirling around him, based on his post below which shows him back in training and focused on his work, it remains to be seen whether or not an exit materialises for the Croatian ace in the coming weeks or if he is indeed simply getting back to the grind and ready to win more silverware in Spain.
The transfer deadline in Italy is on August 17 and so with a week to go, if Inter are to prise Modric away from Real Madrid, they may well have to speed things up.
