After going top of the Premier League on Sunday and with no European football this season, the Chelsea Under-23 side to face Southampton on Monday was packed with talent.
With David Luiz watching on, the Chelsea development squad included Kurt Zouma, John Terry, Marco van Ginkel, Cesc Fabregas, Dom Solanke and Michy Batshuayi.
Despite such a strong side, Southampton went into the break 2-1 up – Michy Batshuayi scored Chelsea’s first equaliser.
Both Michy Batshuayi goals were posted on Instagram after the game, with the Belgian looking strong despite few first team opportunities this season.
The Chelsea winner came from Marco van Ginkel, who is working his way back from injury. It was a fine strike into the corner from the edge of the box.
Chelsea play Spurs in the Premier League on Saturday, it would be a huge surprise were they to change the side that has won six on the bounce and not conceded a goal…
