Mourinho’s approach slammed by a United legend!
Jose Mourinho lacks a winning mentality and doesn’t get the Manchester United way of playing after his tactics in the 0-0 draw against Liverpool this weekend, according to Dwight Yorke.
The former Red Devils star was clearly left unimpressed by United’s approach to the game at Anfield at the weekend, which saw them soak up pressure and play just for a point against one of their biggest rivals.
This is in some contrast to how United played under legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson, with Yorke admitting Mourinho hasn’t yet lived up to those high standards in the big games.
‘Sir Alex Ferguson was a different manager (to Mourinho), he understood the Manchester United way of playing,’ Yorke told beIN Sports, via the Metro.
‘He instilled a lot of confidence in us and made us feel that we could go to the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal back in the day and overturn them, not just go there and get a draw but to go there and win a game.

‘So we were pretty confident whether we were playing at home or away. We had a winning mentality to go to the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal and certainly get a result.’
Yorke also seemed to accuse Mourinho, who has won major honours in every country he’s managed in, of lacking the same ‘winning mentality’ of Ferguson.
He added: ‘Sir Alex Ferguson’s approach to games was a winning attitude and a winning mentality and that’s how we approached it back then.’
United have drawn 0-0 on both their trips to Anfield under Mourinho, with the Portuguese known at his previous clubs for a cautious approach to playing against top teams.
While this has served him well at Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan in particular, there are certain expectations that come with the United job and club legends like Yorke clearly want to see more ambition from the team when it comes to taking on the likes of Liverpool.
