Man Utd and Chelsea are reportedly on a collision course off the pitch as both clubs want to sign Juventus left-back Alex Sandro.
The position has been problematic for both sides, as Marcos Alonso has barely missed any football this season with 30 appearances to his name, playing an almost full 90 minutes each game with little competition or cover.
Over in Manchester, Luke Shaw has recently staked his claim to land that role after struggling for so long, but this report would lead us to believe that the England international still hasn’t convinced Jose Mourinho not to move for another player in the market.
According to The Mirror, the Portuguese tactician wants United to move for the £53m-rated Juventus star, and they could be forced to act this month rather than the summer if Antonio Conte presses ahead with Chelsea’s bid to prise Sandro away from Turin.
In turn, it sets up an intriguing battle between the two coaches off the pitch following on from their ongoing recent war of words, and it remains to be seen who can potentially convince the Juve ace to move to England.
It’s evident both managers could do with a player like Sandro, albeit £53m is a lot of money for a left-back, with the Brazilian defender offering defensive solidity and an attacking threat with his energy and quality left foot making a difference down the left flank.
Now it remains to be seen where his long-term future lies with Man Utd and Chelsea trying to persuade him to start a new challenge.
