Liverpool injury news: Klopp reveals massive blow as in-form Reds ace out for fortnight

Liverpool star Adam Lallana will miss his side’s next two or three games after picking up a groin injury on international duty last week.

The 28-year-old scored in England’s 2-2 draw with Spain at Wembley on Tuesday night, but was forced to sit out his side’s goalless draw with Southampton on Saturday after sustaining the injury earlier in the week.

While his teammates were unable to prise open the Saints defence without him, Jurgen Klopp has now confirmed that Lallana will miss the next two or three games with the issue.

“Adam Lallana is not in because he picked up an injury with England,” said Klopp, as reported by The Express.

“It was serious enough to be not involved today and possibly the next two or three games.

“We don’t know exactly in the moment but that was the only problem we had.”

Liverpool are now unbeaten in their last 12 outings in all competitions and remain top of the Premier League table for now, pending the result of Chelsea’s trip to Middlesbrough on Sunday evening.

Although Klopp has several options to rotate and cover the absence of Lallana, it’s far from ideal for the German tactician to be missing key individuals at any point in the season as they chase their dream of a league title this season.

A greater emphasis will be on the likes Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and others to step up and deliver with Lallana contributing three goals and five assists in 11 league games so far this season as well as showing significant improvement overall under Klopp too as one of the most improved players in the squad.

The former Southampton man will be expected to miss the Premier League clash with Sunderland next weekend as well as the EFL Cup encounter with Leeds United on November 29.
