Gareth Southgate was on course to end his temporary stint as England boss with a famous win over Spain at Wembley.
After beating the Scots 3-0 in a World Cup qualifier, the Three Lions took an early lead over the Spanish when Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana scored from the spot.
Unfortunately, Lallana had to eave the game soon after with an injury.
Leicester’s Jamie Vardy put England 2-up in the 48th minute with a bullet header in the box.
As England tired in the closing stages, La Roja exploited spaces at the back.
Iago Aspas found the target in the 89th minute, and it was no surprise when Isco levelled in injury time.
