With the score tied at 1, Celta de Vigo thought they had scored in the 54th minute but the whistle had blown before the ball crossed the goal line. Two minutes later, former Manchester City man John Guidetti scored a long range goal from 30 yards out to take a 2-1 lead. The curling effort beat Atletico Madrid stopper, Miguel Angel Moya. Celta de Vigo would go on to win the match, 3-2 and advance to the semifinals in the coveted Copa Del Rey tournament.
