With Real Madrid in Japan for the FFA Club World Cup, Barcelona closed the gap at the top of the Spanish table on Sunday night with a 4-1 win at the Camp Nou over local rivals Espanyol.
The win leaves Barca three points behind Real, while Los Blancos also have a game in game.
Barca took an early lead in the game through Luis Suarez, but it wasn’t until midway through the second half, and Suarez’s second goal, that Barca could begin to breathe.
Jordi Alba made it 3-0 before David Lopez scored for Espanyol.
Leo Messi closed the match with a fourth.
