Bad news for Pep Guardiola, Man Utd eye £30m swoop and £60k-a-week extra to land top target

Bad news for Pep Guardiola, Man Utd eye £30m swoop and £60k-a-week extra to land top target

It’s a nightmare storyline for Arsenal fans, but reports continue to suggest Man Utd and Man City are scrapping it out over Alexis Sanchez.

What is clear at this stage is that the 29-year-old is set to become a free agent this summer as his current contract will expire at the end of the season.

In turn, with no renewal being touted as of yet and seemingly unlikely with just five months or so to go, it has led to intense transfer speculation over his future.

According to The Sun, Sanchez still prefers a move to Man City to reunite with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, but Man Utd could be making it difficult for him with the more appealing financial package.

It’s claimed that the Red Devils will bid £30m for the Chilean international, while they’ll offer him £350,000-a-week and a signing-on fee of £25m plus £5m for his agent, which is a staggering amount of money even if he is a free agent.

In contrast, City will pay £20m, a £290,000-a-week salary and no agent fee, and so it’s down to Sanchez to decide on whether or not he values the financial reward more so than potentially joining the club capable of winning major honours in the years ahead if this season’s Premier League table is anything to judge by.

If true, that’s a lot of money on the table for Sanchez and it will surely be appealing as United will have their own ambitions of challenging for major honours in the years ahead.

As a result, it’s a very difficult decision for him to make, but one that he has to get right as after falling short in bids to win the big trophies with Arsenal, Sanchez can’t afford to make the wrong choice and risk following a similar path as he turns 30 later this year.
