Arsenal have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Andre Gomes from Barcelona despite the player being available for the price of just £20M.
Don Balon are stating that the north London club are no longer interested in taking the former Valencia midfielder off of the hands of the Blaugrana this summer.
The Daily Mirror have stated that, as translated and re-reported from Sport, the Spanish giants have told Unai Emery’s side that the Portuguese star can be their’s for just £20M, however it seems like this cheap price isn’t enough for the Gunners to make a move for the player.
With Andres Iniesta now out of Barca, the club are in desperate need of reinforcements in the centre park, meaning that Arsenal pulling out of the race for Gomes may be a blessing in disguise.
Despite being very poor since his move from Valencia in the summer of 2016, Gomes can still prove to be a somewhat useful outlet for the Blaugrana.
He’s no solid replacement for Iniesta by any means, however by keeping him this summer, it would definitely allow the club to not splash the cash in search of a new midfielder this summer.
