Arsenal are still on course to lose Alexis Sanchez at the end of the season, but reports claim they could have a chance of signing Paris Saint-Germain ace Julian Draxler.
With just over six months left on his current contract, there has been no indication to suggest that Sanchez will ink a new deal with the Gunners to extend his stay at the Emirates.
In turn, Arsenal seemingly have two choices. They can either move to sell him in the January transfer window to cash in and raise funds to sign a replacement, or continue to hope that he signs a contract before next summer while risking losing him for absolutely nothing when his deal expires.
It should arguably be the former option, especially with The Sun reporting that they’ve made contact with PSG over Draxler again and will have to splash out £40m on the German international to take him to north London.
However, it all seemingly revolves around Sanchez, which will arguably be a major frustration for Arsenal supporters to continue to see the matter rumble on.
Arsenal are willing to spend £30m on Draxler, but if they receive a £40m bid for Sanchez, they could up that offer, as per the report.
Sanchez has been a shadow of the player he was last season, managing just six goals and four assists in 18 appearances in all competitions.
As for Draxler, the 24-year-old will certainly benefit from a move away from the French capital, with the signings of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe this past summer having a negative impact on his hopes of being a major piece in Unai Emery’s plans.
He’s still made 23 appearances this season but especially in Ligue 1, he hasn’t always made the starting line-up, particularly in recent weeks, and he’ll surely want a more prominent role at this stage of his career where he can play in his preferred role and be seen as a focal point of a side.
