Arsenal are reportedly close to sealing a swap deal that will see Alexis Sanchez join Paris Saint-Germain and Julian Draxler seal a transfer to the Gunners.
The Daily Mail recently reported that PSG could try to sweeten any deal for Sanchez by offering Draxler to Arsenal, and another update suggests this could be closer to completion than initially expected.
According to Don Balon, Arsenal and PSG are ‘about to close’ the exchange, with Real Madrid’s transfer plans ruined in the process.
The Spanish source claims Los Blancos were also keen on signing Draxler, who could have been a decent replacement for the team’s current off-form attacking players.
The Germany international has shone with PSG, though he no longer looks sure of a regular starting spot in his preferred role.
Draxler could be a great fit at Arsenal, and Gooners would be delighted to see the 24-year-old come in as a direct replacement for Sanchez.
With the Chile international out of contract at the end of this season, Arsenal face losing a world class forward whilst also missing out on the necessary funds to replace him.
If Don Balon’s claims that Draxler could be close to moving to Arsenal in exchange, then the club will surely feel they’ve done very well out of a tricky situation.
