The wait goes on for Alexis Sanchez to have his move to Man Utd officially confirmed, but it might not be too much longer now.
As reported by BBC Sport, Henrikh Mkhitaryan gave the green light to his move to Arsenal in a swap deal for the Chilean international, and that should now set in motion the formalities before the transfer is announced.
The move makes sense for both clubs as with Sanchez on an expiring contract, the Gunners will feel as though they’ve added a top class player in Mkhitaryan who can fit in perfectly at the Emirates with his creative qualities and technical ability and have avoided losing their star man for nothing in the summer.
From a United perspective, Sanchez proved last season what a talismanic figure he can be with 30 goals and 19 assists in 51 appearances, and Jose Mourinho will be expecting to see that intensity, creative spark and eye for goal that he saw at Arsenal.
It’s fair to say that the swap deal has dragged on as it’s been a headline-making story throughout the week, but as per Manchester Evening News editor Samuel Luckhurst, as seen in his tweet below, Sanchez is expected to undergo his medical on Sunday.
On top of that, he adds the 29-year-old will train with his new Man Utd teammates for the first time on Tuesday as the Red Devils have a day off on Monday.

Meanwhile, Sanchez has now dropped a major hint on his whereabouts, as he uploaded this video on Instagram stories on Sunday to show that he was set to board a private jet.
Whether that’s for his medical remains to be seen as it would back up the claim from Luckhurst above, but developments are expected in the coming day or so.
