AC Milan transfer news: Marquee target will not arrive, Arsenal offer midfield ace

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has closed the door on a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang move to AC Milan this summer.

The Rossoneri had been linked with a swoop for their former starlet, who dropped a major hint last week that he wanted the move, as per the Daily Mail, with Vincenzo Montella expected to be handed more reinforcements before the transfer deadline to add to the 10 new faces that have already arrived.

However, Aubameyang seemingly won’t be one of them as Zorc has reiterated that the internal deadline set by the Bundesliga giants for a sale has passed, and he now expects the Gabon international to remain with them this season.

“This topic has been concluded,” he said, as reported by ESPN. “He had a window; now he is a BVB player this season. We are looking forward to many goals with him.”

While Nikola Kalinic is set to join Milan this week, as per Sky Sport Italia, they are still arguably in need of a prolific goalscorer to take them to the next level and compete for major honours this season and beyond.

Nevertheless, provided that they can successfully qualify for the Champions League next season, then perhaps the marquee names will start to arrive in 12 months time when they can really boast a proven project.

Meanwhile, Calciomercato report that Arsenal have offered midfielder Jack Wilshere to the Italian giants, as he seemingly doesn’t have a long-term future at the Emirates with just 12 months remaining on his current contract.

It’s not the first time that the 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Italy as it was suggested prior to him joining Bournemouth on loan last summer.

In turn, it remains to be seen whether or not it comes to fruition this time round, as despite his injury record, he could be a useful addition for Milan to add depth given that they’ll be playing many games this season with the Europa League in mind too.
