£53m star cleared to open fresh talks over Liverpool transfer after meeting with club chief | CaughtOffside

Lyon star Nabil Fekir has reportedly been given permission to re-open talks with Liverpool this summer after a deal broke down for him earlier in the transfer window.

The France international could yet make his way to Anfield after twice meeting with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas during the World Cup following his previously failed £53million move, according to the Daily Mirror.

This would no doubt be a fine signing for Liverpool given their lack of depth up front, with Jurgen Klopp lacking options to rotate his first choice front three of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

With the Reds never really in the title race last season and losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid, it’s clear more investment is still needed to boost the club’s hopes of silverware.

Nabil Fekir to Liverpool transfer could still be on

With LFC already bringing in Fabinho and Naby Keita this summer, a signing like Fekir to boost the squad’s attacking options could be a great finishing touch if there’s still a chance of pushing this deal through.

One of the best players in Ligue 1 last season, Fekir seems an ideal fit for Klopp’s style of football and he seems good enough to make the step up to the Premier League at this stage of his career.
