A number of fans watching tonight have clearly been in awe of the performance of Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison against Manchester United.
The 21-year-old joined the Foxes from Norwich City this summer and is making his Premier League debut at Old Trafford, but he’s certainly not been overawed by the occasion.
Several tweeters are now declaring Maddison the best player on the pitch this evening as Leicester look good whenever they get the ball, looking unlucky to be behind to United, in truth.
Paul Pogba’s early penalty gave the Red Devils a 1-0 lead that they’ve taken in with them at half time, but they could do with an improvement in the second period.
Otherwise, one imagines Maddison has something up his sleeve that could help the visitors back into this match as United sit back and invite their opponents to come at them.
United’s big new signing Fred, meanwhile, has looked nothing more than decent so far, with fans likely to expect more from their expensive summer purchase, who we had down as one of the most promising looking signings of the summer.
It just goes to show how many top young players you can still find on the cheap if you look to the lower leagues as Leicester have done.
Here’s how fans have been reacting to Maddison’s display on Twitter tonight…
Maddison looks a player. All #FPL players should consider adding him to their teams. Expect goals & assists this season.

I really like the way Maddison carries himself. He does play with a swagger.

Maddison is so, so good. Some of the players coming through the championship is superb. Grealish, Hughes, Maddison. All could be England internationals very soon.
